Vinayak Kumbar

Vinayak Kumbar is a Technical Research Assistant and Head of Space Cell at the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), HQ IDS, Ministry of Defence.

He is a graduate in Aeronautical Engineering and has cleared GATE (Aerospace) in 2025.
His professional contributions include an extensive body of work spanning web articles and issue briefs on high-priority strategic subjects such as Supercapacitors, Rare Earth Elements (REEs), the Agni Missile Series, Integrated Air Defence Weapon Systems (IADWS), Himalayan Fault Lines and Undersea Warfare. He has further contributed technical depth to the field through published issue briefs covering the Kaveri Engine, Hypersonic Weapons, and Scramjet technology. In addition to his technical research, he has authored three book reviews, including RRR 1 and 2 by the CDS, and has recently co-authored an academic piece in the College of Air Warfare journal regarding Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), Space Domain Awareness (SDA), and Space Situational Awareness (SSA). He is currently in the process of authoring a book on Multi-Domain Operations (MDO). His specialised research interests are focused on the strategic implications of semiconductors, critical minerals, green and nuclear energy, and the evolving landscape of aerospace and defence. Being Proficient in CAD, ANSYS, and data analysis and a polyglot, he also takes interest in Origami and Performing Arts.
