The officer is a qualified NAOO and an Anti-Submarine Warfare specialist. During his Ab initio NAOO course he won the coveted UP trophy for standing first in the overall order of merit. The officer was also adjudged best in flying. He possesses MSc degrees in Air Operations Management, Underwater Science & Technology and Defence & Strategic Studies. The officer also holds a PG Diploma in Strategic Studies by Rashtriya Raksha University.

In his career spanning over 19 years, he has tenated various appointments both afloat and ashore. His Afloat appointment includes Gunnery Officer of Offshore Patrol Vessel, Flight Deck Officer on LPD, Staff NAOO at an embarking squadron, Executive Officer of LST(L) class of ship and Commanding Officer of LCU MK IV class of ship. His shore appointment include Commander (Operations) of Naval Air station.
