From the Director General’s Desk

Insights from the Director General on the evolving landscape of national security and the role of CENJOWS in driving research, dialogue, and transformation.

We are dedicated to fulfilling our role as a premier think tank that aligns military strategy with the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. Towards this, the rigorous research and intellectual churn generated by our faculties, serving officers, and subject matter experts assume great significance in shaping the future trajectory of our national security structures.

MESSAGE FROM DIRECTOR GENERAL

The changing character of warfare, characterised by technological disruption and multi-domain operations, mandates that Synergy, Interoperability, and Integration remain the bedrock of our military capability. As I don the mantle of Director General, I am humbled by the past achievements and invaluable intellectual capital generated by dedicated teams under the able guidance of my predecessors. I take up this responsibility with pride and will endeavour to take forward the excellent work done by my predecessors in this role.
My predecessors have contributed in no small measure to the impressive record of achievements already recorded in fostering a culture of jointmanship and addressing the critical challenges of theaterisation, doctrine formulation, and strategic thought. Nonetheless, I stand to solemnly declare our readiness and willingness to serve the strategic community and the Armed Forces to the best of my ability.

Since its inception, CENJOWS has developed into a credible institutional mechanism for high-level policy advocacy, joint warfare studies, and the generation of strategic foresight. As part of the new leadership, we will seek to carefully assess the achievements of the past years and explore ways to consolidate and upscale them.

Our focus will be on incorporating emerging domains such as cyber, space, and cognitive warfare into the joint warfighting matrix and identifying the systemic challenges that continue to hinder progress towards achieving fully integrated theatre commands.
Close liaison with the Services, HQ IDS, policymakers, academia, and the defence industry holds the key as we strive to raise the bar of our commitment.
As we set forth to achieve our goal with the collective wisdom and energies of all of us, I look forward to valuable feedback from the environment and the strategic community.
